Söylentiydi, doğrulandı. Şimdi ise yüklenmeye hazır. Microsoft, yeni işletim sisteminin yayımlanmaya haline en yakın (Release Candidate) ilk sürümünü kullanıma sundu. Microsoft, Windows 7'nin ilk "Release Candidate" sürümünü (RC 1) bugünden itibaren İnternet üzerinden dağıtımına başladı. Release Candidate, yazılımların son kullanıcıya sunulacak haline en yakın test sürümü anlamına geliyor.

Temmuz'un sonuna kadar İnternet'ten yüklenebilecek olan sürümün lisansı 1 Haziran 2010 tarihinde bitecek. Yani kullanıcılar Temmuz sonuna kadar Microsoft'un resmi sitesinden ücretsiz olarak yükleyebilecekleri Windows 7 RC 1'i 1 Haziran 2010 tarihine kadar kullanabilecekler.

Windows 7'nin ticari sürümünün ise Haziran 2010'a kadar piyasaya sürülmesi bekleniyor.

Microsoft, yayınladığı bültende yeni işletim sisteminin en düşük sistem gereksinimlerini 1GHz veya daha üstü saat hızına sahip işlemci, WDDM 1.0 ve üstü uyumlu, DirectX9 yeteneklerine sahip ekran kartı, 32-bit sürüm için 1GB RAM ve 16GB sabit disk alanı, 64-bit sürüm için 2GB RAM ve 20GB disk alanı olarak duyurdu.

İngilizce, Almanca, Japonca, Fransızca ve İspanyolca dil seçenekleriyle kullanıma sunulan yeni sürüm www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/ adresinden yüklenebiliyor.
