Tarayıcı pazarında gün geçtikçe kan kaybeden Microsoft, çevrimiçi arama pazarında daha çok kullanıcıya ulaşmak amacıyla Mozilla Firefox için bir eklentiyi sessizce yayınladı.

Microsoft’un web tarayıcısı Internet Explorer karşısında günden güne daha ciddi bir rakip haline gelen Mozilla Firefox kullanıcıları, yazılım devinin yayınladığı eklenti (add-on) sayesinde tarayıcılarına gömülü web arama hizmetini Microsoft Live Search üzerinden alabilecekler.

Firefox ile varsayılan olarak gelen Google Search eklentisi gibi, Microsoft Live Search eklentisi de aranacak kelime yazılmaya başlandığı anda otomatik olarak öneriler sunuyor.

Microsoft’un çevrimiçi arama pazarında liderliği elinde bulunan Google Search’a rakip olarak ürettiği eklenti, Firefox’un eklenti deposundan yüklenebilir.

Microsoft’un Live Search hizmeti, daha önce bir gönüllü tarafından yazılmış bir eklentiyle Firefox’ta kullanılabiliyordu, ancak Microsoft Live laboratuvarları tarafından resmen yayınlanan eklentiyle, firmanın çevrimiçi arama pazarında rakip tarayıcıların da içine girerek konumunu sağlamlaştırmaya çalıştığı görülüyor. Microsoft’un eklentisiyle birlikte, firma Firefox platformunda Yahoo ve Google ile birlikte resmi olarak yer almaya başladı.
